August 28-29 2010 Restoring Honor Rally and Tea Party Patriot Recycle Government Rally

Furthermore the LORD spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people: Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.So I turned and came down from the mount, and the mount burned with fire: and the two tables of the covenant were in my two hands. Deuteronomy 9:13-15 KJV

This past weekend Luke and I traveled to Washington D.C. to the Restoring Honor Rally and to the Tea Party Patriot Recycle Government Rally.

My thoughts? WOW! It was very inspiring to see that many people care enough about honoring God and our forefathers to travel to D.C. and stand in the brutal heat! Luke and I left on Wednesday before the Rally and spent a few days visiting New York, Boston and Philly taking tours related to American History and visiting famous historic sites like the statue of Liberty, the Freedom trail and Independence Hall. We took a train from Philly to Washington D.C at capacity with mostly patriots on their way to the rally. Our train hit three deer knocking out the airline. The operator said it would be at least a three hour wait, which would cause us to arrive at the rally just as it was ending. Luke who was engrossed in coversation with a couple of patriots, decided that we should all pray and believe God to get us there on time. Shortly after the prayer, Amtrak decided to send a back up train to rescue us. We arrived in D.C. just as the Restoring Honor rally kicked off!

My only disappointment with the rally was that while we were walking towards it, a group with banners was shouting, "Stop the racist Tea Party." and then there were several people passing out flyers promoting politicians after Glenn Beck said many times that this wasn't a political rally so please leave your political agenda at home. I did get barked at two or three times by some disgruntled patriots as Luke and I were moving through the thick crowd, but I suppose I probably deserved it! Oh, yeah, and there was a group of people with banners marching saying that Glenn Beck was dishonoring Martin Luther King which was kind of weird since they did it while Dr. King's niece was on stage praising Glenn Beck and the rally.

The next morning, me, Luke and our friend Leighton went to Upper Senate Park to the Tea Party Patriot Rally. We met Jenny Beth Martin  and visited with other Tea Partiers. I thought the rally was a success except for one lady who had a very long speech that ended with her shouting "Impeach Obama." and other stuff like that. Even thought I might agree with her, I didn't get a good feeling from the speech and I felt like her going to the dark side was a bad idea. However, that is simply my opinion and the rest of the speeches sounded reasonable. My favorite part was when they opened with prayer and the pledge of allegiance which is of course what the Cypress Texas Tea Party opens with.   Documentary Video for 8/28
